High Production Annual Forage in Perennial Systems Project

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

PPS commenced a new project in 2017 as part of the MLA PDS program to look at the use of annuals in perennial pasture-based systems. The project aims to demonstrate the production, financial and grazing management benefits of high production annual forage systems in perennial grazing systems in the lower rainfall regions of Victoria. Year one had a ryegrass comparison at Lakes Fyans and the grazing cereal sites at Rhymney and Joel Joel.

Five sites were established with grazing cereals or high input annual pastures in 2018; the sites are at Concongella, Dobie, Lake Fyans, Joel Joel and Pigeon Ponds. The project is part of the MLA PDS program.
